Cultural Impact

Expressing gratitude is the humbling first step we can offer for a tremendous cultural ambassadorship Sri. Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Smt. Kalamandalam Kallyanikuttiamma provided to us. We can no longer ignore the significance of these two personalities in our cultural world and the esteemed respect they brought to their respective artistic medium. We hope to carry the spiritual essence they exercised through their commitment towards Kathakali and Mohiniyattam as a guiding light for cultural engagements.

Sri. Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair a stage performer of immense caliber and unmatched embodiment of the character to the stage with a touch of magical realism. Krishnan Nair, a legendary performer who has no parallels in the past and present, took Kathakali to a new horizon, which was unheard off. He was the one first eastern classical performer opened up the western hemisphere for our cultural world. He carried the name Kalamandalam all around the world and created a meaning to that word which is a synonym to Kathakali now. Smt. Kalamandalam Kallyanikuttiamma, the mother of Mohiniyattam as we see it today. Her lifeline and revival of Mohiniyattam are intertwined with each other. A multifaceted personality as a social worker, poet, language scholar (both Malayalam & Sanskrit), researcher, dancer, composer, etc.. She exercised her determination and commitment to revive and bring back the structural integrity to Mohiniyattam as a true classical dance form. She used the entire extraordinary caliber in many of these areas as a tool in the hands of a master craftsman to bring back Mohiniyattam to the grace and glory we see today.

We see this as our responsibility to offer few droplets of our effort and energy for cultural activities adhering to the core principles, which evolved through ages. Complacency can easily drift us to a slipper slop of eroded cultural values. We hope to facilitate and remind ourselves of the importance of holding on the time-tested gems of our cultural heritage. Through the classical traditions of our artistic mediums we would like to stress the importance and significance of our culture and maintain our identity. We plan to facilitate events to reflect our own image so that our cultural identity is clear. We believe our small efforts towards this goal will add the two cents to the bigger goal.
